The delegation of National Assembly members representing Katsina State today visited the Chief of Defence Staff to express their grave concern over the worsening security situation in the state and to seek urgent federal government support to protect lives and property.

We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for the efforts and commitments already made towards national security. In light of the continuing banditry kidnappings in Katsina State, we respectfully urge Mr. President,  Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to authorize the deployment of additional military assets and resources to the state to strengthen security operations and protect our communities.

We most especially on behalf of our constituents, commend the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda,Ph.D for the proactive and unwavering efforts in tackling the pressing issue of general insecurity in the state. We particularly appreciate the strides the Governor is making in combating banditry, kidnapping, and other violent attacks that have plagued our communities across the state.

We pledge our continued support and call for sustained coordination among all security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to restore peace and safety in Katsina State.

Our collective commitment remains steadfast in ensuring a secure environment conducive to development, growth, and the well-being of our people.

The delegation drew the attention of the Chief of Defence Staff to the horrific attack of 20 August 2025 on Gidan Mantau village in Malumfashi Local Government Area, where 32 residents were killed, over 50 men, women and children were abducted, and thousands  of people were forced out from their homes. This incident underscores the scale and urgency of the threat faced by our communities.

We are alarmed that recent banditry , kidnappings and violent attacks across Katsina State have reversed hard-won gains in security and public safety. Over the past period, more than 112 innocent people have been killed, about 250 have been kidnapped, and thousands have been displaced. We also express serious concern at reports of delayed responses to community intelligence and apparent complacency by some security elements. Timely and decisive reaction to actionable intelligence must be ensured.

Accordingly, we call on the Chief of Defence Staff to:
- Give special and sustained attention to operations in Katsina State, including the rapid deployment of appropriate military assets and personnel where required;
- Improve coordination with state and local security agencies and community leaders to ensure timely response to intelligence and credible threats;
- Initiate a transparent review of recent security lapses, with recommendations for accountability and operational improvement;
- Support humanitarian assistance and protection measures for displaced persons and survivors.

We offer our deepest condolences to the families of victims and stand with all who have suffered loss. The National Assembly members from Katsina State remain committed to working with the Federal Government, the Armed Forces and local authorities to restore peace and security to Katsina State.

Signed,
National Assembly Members from Katsina State
